Oak
Quercus robur
Oak is a hard, heavy and strong hardwood native to Finland. Its heartwood ranges from golden brown to medium brown, while the sapwood is noticeably lighter. Oak's distinctive grain patterns, prominent growth rings and beautiful medullary rays give the wood a rich and elegant appearance.
Oak is highly resistant to wear and is known for its strength and longevity. Its heartwood has good natural resistance to decay, making it suitable for both indoor applications and properly designed outdoor structures. Oak is particularly valued in furniture making, flooring and demanding woodworking projects.
