SPECIALTY TIMBER FROM FINNISH FORESTS
At Muupuu, we have been felling, sawing and storing specialty timber for more than ten years. Our stock includes Karelian birch, figured birch, aspen, grey alder, black alder, rowan, goat willow and juniper, mainly as thick live edge slabs with the natural edge preserved.
These boards are not from yesterday's log delivery. Many of them have spent years drying in stacks under cover, waiting for the right maker.

Muupuu's specialty timber has been grown and harvested from our own forests over several decades.

Our stock varies. Some batches are sold as complete bundles, while others are available in smaller quantities.
Good Timber Takes Time
The journey from forest to finished material cannot be rushed.
Muupuu's trees are felled during winter, sawn in spring and stacked to dry. The timber is naturally air-dried for several years before it is offered for sale.
Given enough time, the moisture content evens out and the internal stresses created during sawing are reduced. The wood cells die naturally, making the timber much less likely to warp or crack. Timber that has been stored for many years behaves differently during machining than freshly sawn wood.
What is Muupuu?
A forest is more than just spruce and pine. It is also home to birch, aspen, alder, rowan, goat willow and dozens of other remarkable tree species that have traditionally been overlooked in commercial forestry.
We see the forest differently from the traditional forest industry. Over the years, Muupuu has carefully selected, felled, sawn and dried specialty timber directly from our own forests. Every tree has been personally selected and stored by the same forest owner with great care.
Now these unique pieces of timber are looking for their makers.
